Reefer

Reefer Information

Reefer trucks, also known as refrigerated trucks, are equipped with temperature-controlled trailers designed to transport goods that must remain within specific temperature ranges. These items typically include frozen foods, ice cream, and pharmaceuticals, which cannot be exposed to warmer temperatures.

A reefer truck’s refrigeration system consists of three main components: a compressor, condenser, and evaporator, all housed within the enclosed trailer.

The weight limit for reefer trailers is comparable to that of dry vans, but their legal dimensions differ slightly. The maximum legal width is 8.2 feet, and the maximum height is 8 feet. While reefer trucks primarily transport perishable foods, they are also used to haul pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and other hazardous materials, though never together in the same load.
